June 10th - Naples Daily News Coverage of Haiti
Hear the back stories from three Naples Daily News journalists who covered events in Haiti under varying circumstances.
The Naples Daily News has been covering Haiti and the local Haitian community for years: from the American invasion to restore democracy in 1994, to tracking an alleged killer who fled to Haiti from Naples, to the recent earthquake in the island nation.
Our private presentation will include three perspectives of covering the situations in Haiti: discussion from Erich Strachan, managing editor, who has been with the paper since 1981; Steven Beardsley, multimedia journalist who covers crime and courts for the newspaper, and David Albers, multimedia journalist who joined the staff in August of 2006.
RESERVATIONS NEEDED. Members may send an e-mail directly to rsvp@naplespressclub.org.
When: Thursday, June 10th, 6 p.m.
Where: Naples Daily News Community Room
1100 Immokalee Road, Naples, FL
Cost: FREE to Naples Press Club Members
Please note: this event is not open to the public, however, NPC members can bring a guest.
Don’t miss this exciting event, specially prepared for the Scripps Corporate headquarters meeting earlier in 2010, and now recounted for our members.
More info about these local journalists and their coverage of Haitian events to come in following weeks.
