CONTEST...Neologisms

The Washington Post can do it, why not the Naples Press Club? Hereby announcing a contest for clever "Neologisms".  Prize to be announced - and it may be an actual entry, so be very careful.

Neologism according to the dictionary has two meanings:

1) a new word, meaning, usage, or phrase

2) in Psychiatry - a new word often consisting of a combination of other words, that is understood only by the speaker, occurring most often in the speech of schizophrenics.

Take your pick, but chime in with your own original neologisms. We will publish them in upcoming issues and vote on the winner.

Some examples from past winners:

Coffee (n.): a person who is coughed upon

Flabbergasted (adj.): appalled about how much weight you have gained

Balderdash (n.): a rapidly receding hairline

Frisbeetarianism (n.): the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and stays there

Perplexed (adj.): lost in a movie theater

Cabbage Patch: a patch for those who want to stop eating cabbage

Sudafed: a software program on how to file a civil action suit against the government

Sarchasm: the gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the reader who doesn't get it

Lots of Luck!
